UFC 205 was full of shocking and impressive moments. One of them came after the first women’s bout of the night. Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate was looking to get back on track against Raquel Pennington. Miesha was coming off a bad loss to Amanda Nunes that cost her a broken nose and losing her title.
Pennington dominated Tate from bell to bell and took home a unanimous decision. Immediately after the fight, Miesha shocked the fans by announcing her retirement from mixed martial arts during her interview with Joe Rogan.
The decision may appear to have been made in the heat of the moment. But from what we can see in the video “The Thrill & the Agony” of UFC 205, Miesha is serious about leaving the sport.
Miesha didn’t hesitate to express her lack of desire to continue fighting after losing to Raquel Pennington last weekend in New York.
“I’m not showing up in here anymore, I don’t care enough. I just… I don’t have it anymore.”
After Bruce Buffer read the result — a unanimous decision for Raquel Pennington — Tate spoke to Caraway again.
“I don’t want to fight anymore, Bryan. I don’t want to do this anymore.”
