Vitor Belfort faces Kelvin Gastelum in the main event this Saturday in Fortaleza, Brazil. With 20 years in the octagon, Belfort is aware that his time competing at the highest level is coming to an end. But that doesn’t necessarily have to mean retirement, he has an idea he wants to present to the new UFC management. In an interview with MMA Junkie, Belfort explained his idea.
“I have even one idea I want to present for the UFC: It’s creating a new league inside the UFC. We need something new – I can see now. These new owners, they want to create something new. There is a lot of changing. What I want to propose to them is creating a league inside the UFC, the Legend League, so we can bring back these retired people – bring them back to the game and sell more tickets – give more opportunities so they can make more revenue.”
Belfort has it all figured out, including the roster, the modifications to the rules and even the first title fight, which of course would include him.
