After more than 3 years away from the octagon, and after many months of hard negotiations with Dana White and the UFC, one of the greatest champions in the history of the UFC, Georges St-Pierre, is finally back.
The fighter and the promotion reached an agreement this week and it was revealed St-Pierre signed a multi-fight contract to once again be linked to the UFC. The timing couldn’t have been better as the UFC is going through a somewhat complicated moment with some of its biggest stars out of action.
Speculation regarding whether or not this was the real deal was almost as much as that regarding who should GSP fight first upon his return. Many, including Dana White, seem to believe he should get a direct title shot for the welterweight belt he defended nine times a few years ago. With Woodley and Thompson figthing next month the timing could be great to have GSP headline the closure of the UFC’s International Fight Week in July.
To make things official, GSP and one of his sponsors released an exciting video announcement.
