All the attention this week lies on UFC 205. However, Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance at the weigh-ins on Friday to face women’s champion Amanda Nunes for the first time.
Rousey will return to the octagon at UFC 207 on Dec. 30. She will fight Nunes for the bantamweight title. For Ronda this will be her first time back in the octagon for over a year. Her last appearance was when she suffered that brutal head kick knockout courtesy of Holly Holm.
Last week, Rousey told Ellen DeGeneres that her fight against Nunes was one of the last times she would be stepping into the Octagon. On Friday Ronda seemed to have that same fire in her eyes that made her the longest reigning women’s champion in UFC history.
After the UFC 205 weigh-ins, Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes came on the stage to stare down and kick off the promotion for UFC 207.
Once the stare down was completed, the fighters were separated and UFC commentator Joe Rogan spoke to Nunes about her thoughts on the matchup.
“I’ve been training for this girl my whole career in the UFC,” Nunes said. “Now I have the chance to defend my belt against her. It’s going to be amazing.”
