The co main event of UFC Fight Night 103 features one of the most exciting lightweights in the UFC. Joe Lauzon faces Polish newcomer Marcin Held, who will be trying to get his first win in the UFC after dropping a unanimous decision to Diego Sanchez in Mexico City last year.
Lauzon is one of those fighters who doesn’t get all the attention he deserves. He wins some he loses some but he always makes for an entertaining fight. With a record of 26-12, Lauzon is trying to bounce back after a controversial second loss via decision to Jim Miller.
Joe Lauzon made his debut in 2006 as a big underdog against the now legendary Jens Pulver. Lauzon entered the fight as a sure victim but walked out victorious. Not only that, he also took home a bonus for KO of the night and pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year.
Lauzon has won post-fight bonuses in 10 of his last 15 fights and is the all-time leader in the UFC post-fight bonus list with 15: 1 KO of the night, 7 fights of the night, 6 submissions of the night and 1 performance of the night. He also won the award for Fight of the Year in 2012 when he submitted Jamie Varner.
With 17 wins by submission (5 armbar, 4 RNC, 3 triangle, 1 heel hook, 1 Achilles lock, 1 ankle lock, 1 guillotine, 1 kimura) Joe Lauzon is one of the most dangerous jiu jitsu artists in MMA.
