Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza returned to the octagon after 9 months away while he waited for a title shot he didn’t get and a potential title eliminator fight against Luke Rockhold which fell apart due to an injury suffered by Rockhold.
Desperated to get back in the cage, Souza took a fight against Tim Boetsch who is not only out of the top of the division but also a very powerful and dangerous knockout artist. ‘Jacare’ came into the bout with little to win and a whole lot to lose.
In the end, ‘Jacare’ fought smart and waited for his opportunity to take the fight to the ground. Once on the ground he was able to get the mount and dish out some ground and pound on ‘The Barbarian’, forcing him to give up an arm in an attempt to improve his position.
‘Jacare’ saw the opening and took the opportunity to go for a kimura, executed perfectly and got the submission win.
