Details Inside: UFC 209 Loses A Big Heavyweight Fight

UFC 209 is a pretty stacked card with 2 title fights, but will now be missing an important heavyweight bout that was scheduled for UFC 209. Mark Hunt will still be fighting Alistair Overeem, so that is not the fight that is removed from the card.

The big hope for UFC 209 was to have both of the Diaz brothers fight on this card. They are both big time representatives of their hometown and always represent the “Stockton 209”. Unfortunately, the UFC was unsuccessful to be able to get either of the Diaz brothers on the card, but the welterweight title rematch between Tyron Woodley and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson will be a great main event for the night. Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight strap will serve as the co-main event and the winner will hopefully face UFC kingpin Conor McGregor.

On the next page, the heavyweight fight removed from the UFC 209 card will be revealed.
