Injury strikes again! The UFC 206 main card just took a devastating blow.
Light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has been forced to withdraw from UFC 206. The injury has not been disclosed, but it leaves DC out of the title fight against Anthony Johnson. The UFC is scrambling for a new main event but nothing is secured yet. The intention is to keep ‘Rumble’ Johnson on the December 10th card.
The light heavyweight title fights seem to be cursed. Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson and Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier have been involved in more than a few cancelled fights.
UFC 206 has proven to be a difficult card and it has suffered more than a few changes. It was originally planned to be the return of Georges St-Pierre, however, the negotiations didn’t work out. Then on Monday, Tim Kennedy revealed on The MMA Hour that he was looking for a new opponent because the Ontario Athletic Commission refused the license to Rashad Evans. The plan of the UFC was to book Tim Kennedy vs. Kelvin Gastelum, but because of Gastelum’s suspension by the New York State Athletic Comission that fight is not official yet either.
The rest of the UFC 206 card
UFC 206 takes place December 10th at the Air Canada Center in Toronto. The current co-main event is Anthony Pettis vs. Max Holloway. The rest of the main card features Donald Cerrone vs. Matt Brown and Cub Swanson vs. Doo Ho Choi.
