The UFC continues to release fighters and this week was no exception. Once again, a young, ranked light heavyweight fighter with real possibilities to fight for UFC gold one day has been cut by the new administration of the UFC. The move comes as a surprise similar to what happened to Misha Cirkunov the first weekend of February.
Mikhail ‘Misha’ Cirkunov was a solid prospect in the light heavyweight division. He was ranked #8, with a record of 13-2, on a winning streak of 8 fights and winner of his 4 UFC fights by stoppage. With such an impressive résumé it’s hard to understand why the UFC wouldn’t renew his contract.
Apparently, Cirkunov left the UFC but his curse remained, the fighter who was cut this week was not only the last to face ‘Misha’ in the octagon, but was now also in the #8 Cirkunov left vacant when he was released.
