People are still talking about the bad referee in the main event of UFC 208 who allowed Germaine de Randamie to land late punches in rounds 2 and 4 of their fight. But what happened in the Super Fight League in India goes way beyond that and if it weren’t for the intervention of a former UFC fighter this fight could have ended in a tragedy.
The fight was between flyweights Asha Roka and Hannah Kampf and just a few seconds into the first round of the bout, Roka secured a tight guillotine, and transitioned to full mount to finish her opponent. Hanna Kampf was out instants after that move but for some reason the referee allowed the fight to continue until Kampf’s cornerman, former UFC fighter Dennis Hallman, jumped over and entered the cage to break up the choke himself. All of that after having thrown in the towel instants before, while referee Samuel Lalrozama just stood there watching.
It might be a good idea for Hannah Kampf to look for a new promotion, as just a few weeks ago she was badly beaten due to a late stoppage. Believe it or not, the referee responsible for that was none other than Samuel Lalrozama, who is actually the only referee at many SFL events.
