Yesterday was revealed by Dana White himself that he had officially offered a fight to Nate Diaz. Dana was careful not to mention any names and tried not to give any hints regarding the identity of the potential opponent for the youngest Diaz brother. However, within the hour of Dana’s comment, sources indicated that the fight the UFC had offered to Nate was former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
Nate is determined to sit out until he gets the fight that he truly wants, the trilogy against Conor McGregor. However, in the eyes of the promotion, Nate would need to defeat someone ahead of him on the rankings to secure his chance at McGregor’s belt.
Even if that were to happen, McGregor will remain out for a few more months and when he eventually comes back, there will be an interim lightweight champion waiting to unify the belt, as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson are set to battle to determine who hosts the welcome back party for the Irishman.
However, Nate Diaz doesn’t care about any of that and he wasted no time to send his official response to Dana White and the UFC via a very clear tweet.
