Andrea ‘KGB’ Lee faces Heather ‘Handguns’ Bassett in the co-main event of Legacy Fighting Alliance 4, today in Bossier City, Louisiana. Toothless MMA had the opportunity to speak with Andrea after making championship weight at an even 125 pounds, and she told us how confident she feels about adding one more belt to her collection.
You might be more familiar with her from Invicta FC, but she was also the flyweight champion for the now extinct Legacy FC, and now has the opportunity to take home the inaugural flyweight belt for Legacy Fighting Alliance. She explained that Invicta FC allows her to fight for another promotion and that has been fantastic for Andrea who tries to stay busy and fight as often as she can.
Andrea is one of the most exciting flyweights in the world and part of it is due to being a well-rounded fighter who enjoys every aspect of the fight and has an aggressive style that tries to dictate the pace inside the cage.
“It’s hard to choose a favorite discipline, I enjoy doing a little bit of everything but I love Muay Thai, I love keeping the fights on my feet if I can, but I also love taking the fight to the ground and using my jui jitsu. I really love every aspect of MMA.”
“I’ve always seen myself as an aggressive fighter, I’m a go-getter, I just go out there and take the fight to them. I hate just standing around, I wanna be on you and make you fight.”
Despite being the favorite to take the belt, Andrea is aware that anything can happen in a fight and there’s no such thing as an easy opponent in the world of MMA. She respects Heather Bassett’s skills and plans to stay focused throughout the fight to take home the belt.
“Heather is a tough opponent, I think it’s going to be a good fight, she is dangerous. I don’t think she specializes in any one specific thing but I can’t underestimate her. I feel confident but things happen in a fight, you can get caught any moment and get choked out, it has happened to me so I gotta keep my guard up at all times and don’t underestimate anyone.”
“I’m planning to go out there and finish the fight as quickly as I can. I don’t want to go the distance, I want to finish it early but you never know what’s going to happen.”
Finally we asked Andrea about her vision of the future and in which direction she thinks her career might be going, and the one thing that was clear more than any other is Lee’s love for fighting.
“I feel like if continue winning more throughout this year I think it could lead me to the UFC if they finally open a flyweight division. I’ll continue to fight with Invicta and LFA, and I think a lot of opportunities are going to open up and I’m just excited to fight.”
